(EN) Mermaids are mythological figures deeply tied to water, an element embodying both seduction and danger. Giuseppe Maiorana’s sculpture follows the cycle of water — from submerged civilizations to ritual practices, passing through the murky tides of trade routes. The hybrid figure of the mermaid, at times malevolent and at times protective, half woman and half animal, serves as a guide through these realms, from the depths to the surface. Her dual nature resonates with that of water itself, a space of metamorphosis between waters of youth and waters of fate. On land and in the atmosphere, water is both element and resource, shaping us and transcending the world. In its infinite forms — rain, sea, drop, dew, stream, cloud, mist, and tears — it remains the essential source of all life.

Mermaids are mythological figures deeply tied to water, an element embodying

both seduction and danger. Giuseppe Maiorana’s sculpture follows the cycle of

water — from submerged civilizations to ritual practices, passing through the

murky tides of trade routes. The hybrid figure of the mermaid, at times malevolent

and at times protective, half woman and half animal, serves as a guide through

these realms, from the depths to the surface. Her dual nature resonates with that

of water itself, a space of metamorphosis between waters of youth and waters of

fate.

On land and in the atmosphere, water is both element and resource, shaping us

and transcending the world. In its infinite forms — rain, sea, drop, dew, stream,

cloud, mist, and tears — it remains the essential source of all life.

rugiada, ruscello, nuvola, nebbia e lacrime –

, è la sorgente essenziale di ogni vita.
