Thirteen monumental works catch the eye of visitors. An international audience, tourists from all backgrounds, who, in addition to admiring the splendor of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, will now also be able to appreciate contemporary art, thanks to the sculptures of the Venetian artist Gianfranco Meggiato (1963) exhibited on the occasion of the solo show "L'Uomo Quantico: there is no future without memory", from 28 July 2021 to 4 January 2022. A sensitive move, considered that many are convinced that Italy has only treasures for historical inheritance: if an engrossing archaeological site, also included in the Unesco World Heritage list in 1997, can also host exhibitions by contemporary artists, why not seize the opportunity?
The search of the Venetian artist Gianfranco Meggiato arrives at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento to get in touch with the site and find his contemporary man, among the signs of ancient civilizations. Sculptures of today meet the architecture of yesterday. Metal alloys that defy known forms, stone blocks that have defied the centuries. A celebration of humans, creativity and even more, what lies behind - before the rational, the known and visible.
