Jonty Hurwitz at Oblong Contemporary

A Significant New Addition to Our Artist Portfolio
Oblong Contemporary is pleased to present the work of Jonty Hurwitz, a London-based sculptor whose groundbreaking research at the intersection of art, physics, and computational engineering has established him as one of the most innovative figures in contemporary sculpture.
Hurwitz’s practice is rooted in scientific inquiry. Using algorithms, quantum measurement principles, and high-precision digital fabrication, he creates objects that question the nature of perception and the very structure of reality. His sculptures often exist on the edge of the visible: some can only be understood through reflection, specific optical angles, or microscopic magnification. By turning mathematical data into form, Hurwitz challenges viewers to reconsider the relationship between observation, truth, and illusion.
Internationally recognized for producing the world’s smallest human sculptures, engineered through nano-technology, Hurwitz has expanded the horizon of what is possible in three-dimensional art. His works reside at the convergence of engineering mastery and conceptual depth—merging objective scientific process with the emotional resonance of fine art.
Hurwitz’s artworks have been showcased in leading museums and scientific institutions worldwide, including the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the ICA London, Science Gallery Venice, Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, Guangdong Science Center, Singapore Science Center (permanent exhibition), Wuhan Museum of Art, and the Macau Museum of Art (permanent collection), among many others.
Through his exploration of memory, identity, and the limits of human perception, Jonty Hurwitz offers a new framework for understanding contemporary sculpture—one in which art becomes both an emotional experience and a precise scientific instrument.
