One of the latest series of sculptures by the Stefano Bombardieri, "Balancing on the Past" reflects on the precarious equilibrium that we as human beings, are left to deal with from our past generations. The series is in fact conceived as part of an installation that starts with a child trying to find balance first on the skull of a mammoth, then on the skull of a chimpanzee, of a human and eventually, on a round shape that reminds us of the world.

As Bombardieri states, "Us, before our children, have found ourselves in an unstable equilibrium as a result of issues that should have been solved by precedent generations. History repeats itself: the mammoth, the human skull, our planet, the past that comes back to us"
