Fiedler O Mastrangelo

Overview

Fiedler O Mastrangelo is a contemporary artistic duo whose practice unfolds at the intersection of language, abstraction, and spatial form. Bringing together the distinct yet complementary backgrounds of Giulia Mastrangelo and Nicolas Fiedler, their work develops as a refined dialogue between word and structure, intuition and construction, poetry and geometry.

At the core of their practice lies a unique performative process: chains of words, phrases, and ideograms—conceived by Mastrangelo—are translated in real time by Fiedler into visual signs, generating a dynamic system in which language becomes form. These elements are subsequently embedded within the surface of the work, creating a layered visual field where meaning is not fixed, but continuously unfolds through perception.

Giulia Mastrangelo’s formation in art history and conservation informs a deeply conceptual approach to language, where words operate as carriers of multiplicity and resonance.

Nicolas Fiedler, shaped by his early immersion in the Brazilian Atlantic landscape and trained in architecture, brings a structural sensitivity rooted in natural rhythms and mathematical logic. Together, their practices converge into a visual language that moves fluidly between the organic and the constructed.
Working across painting, sculpture, and large-scale installations, Fiedler O Mastrangelo articulate a precise yet poetic investigation of contemporary visual culture—where abstraction becomes a space of translation, and form a vehicle for thought.

The duo has presented their work internationally, with exhibitions in Venice, Milan, Cannes, and beyond, and has been recognized by major cultural institutions, including the Venice Biennale, where they were awarded Artefici del Nostro Tempo and exhibited at Pavilion 29.
